| Note* | On November 4, 1873 John Alois Koenig left the port of Bremen, Germany and arrived at the port of New Orleans on November 27, 1873. One week later on November 11, his two sisters and two brothers, Rosina, Caroline, Ferdinand, and Joseph left the port of Bremen and arrived at the port of Galveston on December 2. These five Koenigs were the sons and daughters of John and Mary Boem Koenig who lived in the district of Neutitschein, in the state of Moravia, in the country of Austria-Hungary (now Novy Jicin, Moravia, Czech Republic). They settled in High Hill, Texas where other Austrians from the same are preceded them and made their homes. Rosina was the oldest of the five Koenigs. She married Anton Beck in Fayette County. John Alois Koenig was born September 21, 1853. He became a naturalized citizen in Fayette County. On July 17, 1877 he married Magdalena Schenk in High Hill, and Reverend H. Pefferkorn performed the ceremony. They lived in High Hill and later moved to the Sedan/Dubina area. John and Magdalena had five children, one who died young. | |

| Note* | Ferdinand Koenig was born October 13, 1851. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States on July 26, 1887 in Fayette County. His witnesses were Charles Helmcamp and C. Kruschel. On November 6, 1876 he married Mary Kloesel in High Hill. Reverend H. Pefferkorn performed the ceremony. Witnesses were the Joseph Freises and the Anton Becks. They purchased a farm in the Ammansville area where they made their living and reared their nine children. Ferdinand died on June 13, 1929 and is buried in the Ammansville Cemetery. Reverend Alfons Raska officiated at his burial. Mary Kloesel Koenig, born in Austria in January 1856 was the daughter of John and Rosina Beck Kloesel. She emigrated to America with her parents at the age of 11 and lived in the High Hill area until her marriage. Mary died March 18, 1902 and is buried in the Ammansville Cemetery. | |
