Note*Edward, the oldest of six children of Franz Gold and Elizabeth Seidenberger immigrated to America from Austria in the 1870's. Along with his parents, three brothers and two sisters, Emil Frank, Joseph, Mary and Rosa, he settled at High Hill, Texas in an area know as Middle Creek in Fayette County. Edward was approximately 24 years of age and evidently it didn't take him long to find a companion to share his life. He married Tekla Heinrich, daughter of Wenzel Heinrich and Magdalena Muenster, also an immigrant from Austria. Edward and Tekla later moved to Weimar and settled on a farm about two miles north of town near the Colorado County, Fayette County line. They had seven children Edward L, Rudolph, August, Mary and Annie (twins), Frank and Tina. They spoke German and farmed for their livelihood. Edward suffered a stroke later in life. He and Tekla lived in a little house built for them near their home place which was occupied by his son Rudolph and family. Another stroke on May 14, 1917 ended his life at age 61. After his death, Tekla made her home with her son Rudolph and family. She died on December 26, 1923 at age 65. They are buried in St Michael's Cemetery in Weimar.
