Peter Neumeier

Biography*Peter & Frances Bauer Neumeier came to the United States from Bavaria in Southern Germany in August 1880. The family arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on September 3, 1880 aboard the ship Herman. Peter didn't like Bavaria. Hunting was not allowed and he loved to hunt. When they first came to Arkansas they lived three or four miles West of Little Rock where he worked in a sawmill. The family then moved to Morrison Bluff to railroad land. When he arrived in Morrison Bluff near Scranton, he had his trusty shotgun in his hand. The Neumeiers settled in a log cabin where Peter successfully farmed 120 acres of land. It's the first farm house north of Scranton on Arkansas Highway 109.

1900 Census (Logan County Arkansas) shows that he came to the US in 1880 and had filed his first papers. He was a farmer and owned land free of debt. It should be listed in farm schedule 64. It lists his date of birth as 1838, says he is 61 and has been married 28 years. He had filed his first citizenship papers.
