Ida and her two children, Emil Jr. and Kenny, lived in La Grange, TX and also for a time with Ida's parents on the farm while Emil Sr. was serving in the Army during WWII.
After Emil's return from the service, the family moved to San Antonio where they continued to live until Ida's death. The Kubos family lived on the Southeast side of San Antonio. Emil was a salesman for paint and wallpaper. Emil and Ida eventually worked together managing a paint, wallpaper and framing shop. Even though they did not own the shop, they were as dedicated to its success as if it were their own. Ida was very good at picture framing.

Bob and his brother, Ben, went to Illinois to learn how to operate big machinery. The both finished the course, but Ben decided to return to Texas. Bob stayed in Illinois and that's were he met Mitzie Witowski. He continued to operate big machinery in Illinois and later in California until his retirement.
Bob and Mitzie lived in Chicago, IL during their married life. They made several trips to visit Bob's parents. Mitzie was always trying to make live easier for her mother-in-law and would often replace some items thinking that a newer model would be much better -- and she probably felt Ida could not afford a newer model. Mitzie probably never realized that Ida's utensil was what she was used to and did not appreciate the replacement.
When Bob and Mitzie came down, there was always a family gathering. They usually came down in the summer, and Mitzie was not used to the heat and could not stand flies or bugs. It always seemed that when they came -- the heat was its hotest and the flies were abundant.
