| Note* | Evelyn Marie Heinrich, the only daughter of Ludwig and Anne Blaschke Heinrich, was born in High Hill, Texas, September 5, 1920. Her early childhood centered around St. Mary's Church and School in Hig h Hill. Both Evelyn and her brother Eugene worked on the farm when they were young. Evelyn attended elementary school in High Hill. During World War II, Evelyn lived and worked in Houston at Hugh es Tool Company making munitions for the war effort. After the war ended, Evelyn met her future husband George E. Wade, Jr. At a local dance in La Grange. George was stationed at Camp Swift in Bastr op, Texas following his tour of duty in Europe. After a ten month courtship, they were marred in Roswell, New Mexico on May 24, 1946. George is the son of George E. Wade, Sr. and Mable Lawing Wade o f Hagerman, New Mexico. George was inducted into the U. S. Army at Fort Bliss, Texas on August 3, 1944 after being drafted for the war effort. On January 31, 1944, he left for the European theater operation. On March 14, 1945, he was wounded in the left arm in France while on reconnaissance patrol. He fought as a foot soldier through out Europe and finally ended up in Innsbruck, Austria. He returned to the US on September 11, 1945 as a Private First Class and was discharged on March 7, 1946 at Fort Bliss, Texas. They lived in Hagerman, New Mexico where they farmed and ranched for 6 y ears. During this time Susanna Marie and Brenda Kay were born. In 1952, they moved to Ignacio, Colorado, a small farming and ranching community. After on year, they moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico, where George bought the International Harvester dealership from the Meyers Company. While in Carlsbad, their third daughter, Karen Rose, was born. Evelyn and George lived in Carlsbad for 15years with George running a successful dealership and Evelyn running a busy household. In 1970, George and Evelyn moved to Lubbock, Texas and then to El Paso, Texas. George worked at many professions, includin g selling salt to the local ranchers, running a flying operation in El Paso, real estate and most importantly, playing the stock market. In 1985, they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. George enjoys hunting and computers and Evelyn enjoys cooking a playing bridge. | |
