Fourteen children blessed Estelle Horn's and Thomas Dotson Alderman's union, twelve of them were still living in 1981. One daughter, Nancy Hellen died at about 4 years old. Another infant daughte
r was stillborn.

Estelle says they were able to raise all these children because their father sawmilled three quarters of the year and farmed cotton, corn, sugar cane, peanuts, potat
oes, and lots of hay. They had a big garden.

Her husband Thomas's father, Jesse Alderman, bought Burgess Palestine (Tiny) Horn's land when Tiny decided to move his family to Texas.
This had apparently been Wilbert Horn's homeplace. In 1981 Estelle and Thomas lived just up the hill from this land. The old house was still there with good lumber in it. William Wilbert Horn ha
d his own sawmill and had cut the lumber and built the house with it.

Estell says that her father told her that William Wilbert Horn was Irish. He had Red hair and blue eyes as di
d her own father, and Estelle herself had copper red hair when she was younger. Estelle says she does not have any red headed children, grandchildren, or great grandchildren.

Estelle
had never heard the story that William Wilbert Horn's great-great-grandmother was said to have been full blooded Cherokee indian.
