March 10, 1995 After high school in Victoria, I attended Victoria College for 2 years and then went into the Navy, serving aboard a destroyer as a radar man. I went overseas on 3 different occasions, visiting Japan, the Philippines and China. My father passed away while I was in the Navy. I was discharged in 1957, went home for a short time and then traveled to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where I married my first wife and had my only daughter, Colleen. I moved to Salt Lake City in 1959 to work for an engineering and land surveying firm who also had an office in Idaho, I was divorced in 1961 and married my present wife in 1963. Colleen moved to Arizona with her mother and has lived there since. May wife, Helen, is older than I and in very poor health. She had 4 children by a previous marriage, one of whom died at age 15. The children are all married with grandchildren of their own, making us great grandparents. I am also a great grandfather on my own due to Colleen®s daughter, Michele, having her own daughter about 3 years ago. Michelle and her daughter live with Colleen at the present time. Colleen®s son Derick is a typical teenager and loves sports. He visited with me for 2 weeks last summer. I bought the surveying practice of the firm for which I worked and began my own business in 1983. At the end of April, I will substantially retire to spend more time with Helen. We also have a home in Wyoming and like to go there during the summer. We will also travel to Arizona and visit Colleen and my sister Iris whom you have previously heard from. Helen®s parents are both deceased, together with one brother. She as one other brother and a sister, both living in Salt Lake. Although she was born in Ogden, she has lived in Salt Lake all her life. She worked in a bank and as treasurer of a large high school for many years until she had to retire because of her health. We live in South Jordan, a small community about 20 miles south of downtown Salt Lake City. We have a home right on the golf course, as is our home in Wyoming. I used to play a lot of golf but haven®t for the last several years. I will probably get into it again. We are both active in the LDS church and some of our social life revolves around activities sponsored by the church. We need to get going on Helen®s family history, especially on her mother®s side. The resources are here, so all we have to do is take advantage of them.
